Joy works as a national and international educational consultant helping school districts improve classroom effectiveness through practical and inspiring teaching methodologies. She provides insight on instructional strategies that engage all learners and help them meet learning standards and benchmarks. She has co-authored several books on Differentiated Instruction, including: Inspiring Middle and Secondary Learners (Corwin Press, 2007), Inspiring Elementary Learners (Corwin Press, 2008) and Differentiation for Real Classrooms (Corwin Press, 2009).

Joy has 10 years experience in middle and secondary science, math, and foreign language classrooms. Her areas of expertise include gifted learners, special education, connecting major educational initiatives with simple, practical frameworks (RTI, UbD, DI, UDL), and co-teaching models and practices.

Her dynamic presentations are multi-media, interactive, paced to fit the needs of the audience, and are modeled after her classroom experiences – practical, engaging, and meaningful.

Joy holds a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Languages from the University of Tennessee and a Masters of Science in Biology from Austin Peay State University.
